There has been a lot of talk in certain circles, certain forums and certain message boards over the end-of-year period that 2012 is going to be a big year for hardcore music. More specifically, a big year for those leading a new direction in hardcore. A direction that takes sounds, and lessons from the past, but uses a new energy, a new vision, and a new ethos, to take hardcore to new heights in the new year. A core of artists, producers and DJs are leading this charge, none more so than the two we feature here. HTF brings you Fracus and Darwin.
Fracus and Darwin form part of the core of the Hardcore Underground stable, a label which has been producing quality releases in the form of the famed Hardcore Underground compilation (which recently reached its fifth edition), as well as artist albums and single releases. The guys themselves are no strangers to the studio, having been producing since the early 2000’s. Their work has not only been featured on HU, but also on Brisk’s Next Generation Records, Marc Smith’s Notorious Vinyl, and One Five Music. As DJs, they regularly rock sold out dancefloors, and specialise in putting together mixes for brands such as Hardcore Heaven, Hardcore Nation and Hardcore Addiction. Darwin has his own label in the form of Deeper Territory.
F&D have a deserved reputation for diversity, each working in the fields of upfront hardcore, freeform, gabba, and breaks. This idea of providing fresh, new and exciting hardcore music is what will make them stand out from the pack in ’12, and, with the group of DJs and producers which they have gathered around themselves, will lead rave music into a new dawn.
With so much great music to choose from, it was hard for me to narrow a choice down to a few tracks, but have a listen to the below for a taster.
