One of those most exciting collaboration documentaries of the past few years is due for release early next year entitled ‘RE:GENERATION’ (co-produced by the Grammys and directed by Amir Bar Lev).
The documentary shows five popular DJ’s/producers teaming up with artists from five separate genres to record some brand new music. DJ Premier is bought in to produce a classical track with Nas and the Berklee School Of Music Orchestra; Pretty Lights works with Leann Rimes and Ralph Stanley on a country track, The Crystal Method creates an R&B track with Martha Reeves; Mark Ronson teames with Erykah Badu, members of the Dap Kings and Trombone Shorty for a jazz cut and lastly dubstep’s Skrillex works with the remaining members of The Door’s, organ player Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore.
The film is due to premiere early in 2012 and will be a big part of Grammy Week next year, with the artists involved doing “Remix Labs,” as well an event at the Grammy Museum and screening that week.
