The Nothing 245x150 Review: The Nothing The Nothing (EP)Band: The Nothing
Release: The Nothing (EP)

For any fans of Lostprophets or Funeral for a Friend, The Nothing is a breath of fresh air. The boys, made up of two from Wales, lead singer and rhythm guitarist, Ceri Collins, and lead guitarist, Robert Hunt, and two from Cannock, the Birmingham lads making up the ‘rhythmic glue’ in the band, bassist, Adam Furmage, and drummer, Simon Greenaway.

The EP is a decent first outing for the band, but unfortunately nothing to set the world alight. ‘So It Begins…’ is a strong opening song and makes a prominent impression on what the rest of the EP is going to be offering up. Both ‘Even a God Can Bleed’ and ‘I Am Your Nightmare’ are solid outings for a first EP, with decent riffs and harmonic chorus’. The star song of the EP though is the final one ‘You Wanna Know How I Got These Scars?‘ is more of what the guys need to be aiming for, with a heavy riff, yet clean vocals to even out the tempo.

The Nothing, are on their way to something good, but a little work is still needed to get to the same heights as those, such as Lostprophets or The Blackout. Welsh inspired rock music is very similar, and seem to garner with them the same type of fans, and it’s quite clear that the guys are trying to entice these types of music fans into their embracing arms as well. It is something I would definitely urge such fans to check out. Give it a few years and an album or two and these boys will make it as a well known name in rock music.
