If you do not know who Patrick Stump is then punch yourself in the face right now. He is arguably one of the best song writers to come out of the US this year and the front man of one of the most respected pop punk bands of the 00′s, Fall Out Boy.
As the band announced their hiatus last year never did any fan expect for this to happen; Patrick appearing on YouTube with an acapella medley of Michael Jackson tracks that literally blew us all away, most of us staring in amazement as he sported a new haircut, different attire and introducing a whole new Patrick!
Eight months later, and with the success of his solo EP ‘Truant Wave’ and solo tour dates in the UK and US, it is time to hear Patrick’s full length album release, ‘Soul Punk’. HTF were incredibly honoured to chat with him as he spent some time in the UK this week, just before the album is released over here on October 17th.
We speak to Patrick about his time in Fall Out Boy, Michael Jackson, his appearance and the what made him go from pop punk to soul punk. We go indepth about his past health and confidence issues and find out the real reasons behind Patrick’s trademark F.O.B hat and hoodie, why he never really enjoyed making music videos and discuss how he feels changed and ready to do thing his own way with his own vision.
