Queen and Adam Lambert 245x163 Sonisphere Release First UK Announcement!!It’s been a long time coming, but Sonisphere finally released their first announcement today on a large number of sources. The massive 23 band announcement finally sets the festival in motion, and one of the headliners could well bring with it one of the biggest reactions the festival world has seen.

Let’s get the big news out of the way already; the headliners this year include the classic rockers Kiss. Gene Simmons and his magical tongue will be gracing the Knebworth grounds with a magical and explosive headline slot. They will be joined by headliners Faith No More, who will be building up hype before a new record in the coming years. Finally, the festival will be closed by one of the biggest rock groups the world has ever known, Queen. Joined by American Idol runner up Adam Lambert on guest vocals, this will be one for any sing a long fan and will be a testament to the final place Freddie Mercury played.

Other bands to be played over the weekend include a symphonic metal trio of Evanescence, Within Temptation and Lacuna I Killed the Prom Queen 245x162 Sonisphere Release First UK Announcement!!Coil. Evanescence haven’t played a music festival since Download 2007, and with a new album out they are a much needed return.  Also playing are two reunions who have yet to play a festival, this includes the Australian metalcore band I Killed The Prom Queen and one of the biggest talked about reunions this year, Refused.

Get ready to party hard as HTF favourite Andrew W.K will be hitting up Knebworth this July. With Tim Minchin who will be headlining the 2nd stage as did Bill Bailey last year. Other bands to hit Knebworth include, welsh rockers The Blackout, Cypress Hill, Fields of Nephilim, Flogging Molly, Ghost, Gojira, Incubus, Katatonia, Marilyn Manson, Mastodon, Switchfoot, The Darkness and Wolfmother.
