South London MC Crazy Jane is one of many artists creating a buzz in the underground rap scene. As he drops his newest release ‘This Aint No EP’, HTF gives you the lowdown.
It’s clear that with his newest mixtape, Crazy Jane is attempting to build a name for himself and separate himself from his peers.
It doesn’t take too long for us to slip into the record, with early track ‘We Fly Together’ grabbing our attention. The track features Fudge and the melodic beat along with the brash rhyming styles of both artist makes this one an instant banger.
Crazy Jane goes strictly solo for the remainder and whilst he has his own unique style, seems to heavily rely on sampling rather than producing his own material. This could be a simple ploy to widen his audience with the use of such popular hits which comes across as both clever but somewhat lazy.
Tackling songs such as Otis Reddings ‘Otis’ and SBTRKT’s hypnotic ‘Wild Fire‘ were a challenge for the artist but he surprisingly shone during ‘Gimmie Gimmie’ with a cheeky interpration of the hit ‘Gimme More’ by pop princess Britney Spears.
Overall there is no denying that MC Crazy Jane has potential, hopefully on his next release he will be able to get a better producer and explore other issues such as women and his competition which seemed to have been the story for this one.
