Sharky Major – Da Shark & The Major (Review)

by

Sharky Front 245x244 Sharky Major Da Shark & The Major (Review)The mere mention of Sharky Major gets the older grime fan giddy at the knees. Previously part of East London’s massive N.A.S.T.Y crew, Sharky Major is without a doubt grime royalty.

With a copy of his brand new ‘Da Shark & The Major‘ hitting our inboxes a week before release, (December 19th), HTF were extremely happy to review the latest offering.

The mixtape kicks off with ‘Main Event‘ and is an instant drop into what Sharky Major can do lyrically on a track. There is no slow build up into the mixtape but what can you expect when you title the first track ‘Main Event‘? An excellent way to kick off the mixtape and let the listener feel the tempo that should be expected throughout the mixtape.

It’s not rare for an artist to drop a deep track on their mixtapes but normally the beat and flow slows down to show their reflective mood, so when we saw ‘Dear God‘ on the tracklisting this was what we expected. However that is not what we got, Sharky Major instead questions what’s going on within London and why. An intelligent track from the Major which asks those real questions.

One of the biggest tracks on the mixtape comes in the form of the ‘Dashed Out The Car‘ remix which features Ghetts, Diesle, Frisco and Rival. This is hype upon hype and will have you smashing the hell out of your replay button. Sharky Major drops a chorus that has all the elements of a rave killer. The only question we have to ask is who’s cd did Sharky Major throw out the car?

Overall ‘Da Shark & The Major‘ is a great mixtape which deserves your time and attention, at a cost of just £6.99 from Major Music Entertainment this makes the PERFECT stocking filler for anyone with even a passing interest in grime.
